What is Hindu & Hinduism ?..A Mystry ?

The words HINDU and HINDUISM are so complicated that even some of the greatest leaders of this country(INDIA) found it difficult to Explain!

The term "Hinduism" has been derived from 'Hindu'. "Hindu' is a Persian word which means dark* (Lughat sa'd (Kanpur:1963),p.633.

The word was first used by Muslims*(H.G. Rawlinson, Intercourse Between India and the Western World, (Cambridge:1962),p.20. for the inhabitants of the 'land beyond the Indus (Sindhu) river'and later, for the ancient Indians in general.

The word was never in Indian literature or scriptures before the advent of Muslims* (Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics, (New York:1967), 6:699. & Swami Dharma Theertha, History of Hindu Imperialism, (Madras:1992),p.vii.to India.

According to Jawaharlal Neharu, the earliest reference to the word "Hindu" can be traced to a Tantrik book of the eighth century C.E., where the word means a people, and not the followers of a pirticular religion*.(The Discovery of India, (New Delhi:1983), pp.74-75.

The Muslim rulers used the term 'Hindu' to mean Indian non-Muslims only. The Brahmans Gladly welcomed it! The British rulers maintained it with one modification, they excluded the converted christians from it! The people of the South Asian sub-continent called Hindu had no precise word for their religions.*(Benson Y Landis, World Religions, (New York: n.d.), p.49.

Britishers Fed up with their thousands of casts and communities gave them the word "Hinduism" to be used as a common name for all these sects in about 1830* (The New Encyclopedia Britannica), 20:581.

Lack of common system

Hinduism is not a revealed religion and, therefore, has neither a founder nor definate teachings or common system of doctrines.*( Area Handbook of India, (Washington: 1975),p.163).

"There is in fact no system of doctrines, no teacher, or school of teaching, no single god that is accepted by all the Hindus"*(Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics,6:712).

In Hinduism, none is, therefore, regarded to have forsaken his or her religion, even if he/she deviates to any extent from the usually accepted doctrines or practices.

Superiority of Brahmans

The Brahmans occupy the highest order. They r said to have sprung from the mouth of brahma(god), they are the possesors of the Veda.

The Brahman is the diety on earth by his divine status*, born to fulfil Dharma.(Wilkins, Modern Hinduism, (London:1975), p.239.
Polytheism

Hindus believe in many gods and godesses. Some of them are human (e.g.Krishna, Rama)* (Theerta, p.37.)

some animals(e.g. fish, monkey, rat, snake), and
some other r natural phenomina (e.g dawn, fire, sun).

Their number is generally believed to be 330 million.

This god incarniates i.e. takes form of human beings and other animals and appear on Earth.

They have wives and children. No god possesses absolute power; some gods r weaker than the sages and others are weaker than the monkey god (e.g. Rama).

Status of their godhead is not fixed. Some gods are worshipped for some time and abandoned and new gods are adopted.

Now a days the gods and godesses worshiped in Hindu homes are not Vedic. Vedic gods like Agni(fire), Surya(sun), Usha(dawn), are completely rejected.

Rama who is currently recieving increasing acceptance among Hindus of the wide propogation of the official and media was never worshipped as diety until 11th century.

Sex and Sex-worship

Hindu scriptures are essentially pronographic in nature, full of sexual allusion, sexual symbolism, passages of frank eroticism and stories relenting to venal love.

Ritual intercourse was practiced by some sects to aid salvation.* (The Wonders That Was India (Calcutta:1967), p.172.). The temples are full of sculptures with all sort of sexual postures. The sex life of Krishna is well known for it's indecency.*

He had illicit relations with Radha, wife of his maternal uncle, in addition to number of Milk-maids, although he had a large number of wives*. (Wives of Krishna 16108, childrens of krishna 180,000 Ambedkar, Riddle of Rama and Krishna, (Bangalore:1988),p.25.).

Brahma is found guilty of cohabiting with his own daughter, Saraswati. It is for that reason he is not worshipped today.

Vishnu is guilty of deceitfully ruining the chastity of a married woman, called Tulasi.

Siva is not worshipped but the image of his linga (sex-organ) is widely worshipped*(Wilkins, p.281). this is because of the curse of some sage.

Prostitution is encouraged in the form of 'DEVDASI" (slave-girls dedicated to temple-idols).

Hindu gods and rishis are found engaged in sexual act with beautiful women and breeding illegitimate children.

E.g. In order that Rama could have strong soldiers in his army, the gods engaged themselves in begetting powerful sons. This they did by engaging themselves, in tne words of Dr. B R Ambedkar (Ambedkar p.7) "in wholesale acts of fornication, not only against apsaras, who were prostitutes, not only against the unmarried daughters of yakshays and nagas, but also against the Ghandarvas, Kinnars, and Vanaras (monkeys) and produced the vanaras who became the associates of Rama".

Reverance for the Cow

The Arthashastra*(Kautilya minister of Chandragupta, 4th century CE) refers the killing of cow as a crime worthy of death??

M K Gandhi in his book Hindu Dharma says"Cow protection is an article of faith in Hinduism"(p.108).

It is however interesting to note that, cow was slaughtered by the ancient Hindus to enjoy it's Beef, and as a sacrifice. Gandhi himself says, "I know there r scholars who tell us that cow-sacrifice is mentioned in the vedas. I..read a sentence in our Sanskrit text-book to the effect that Brahmins of old (period) used to eat beef" (Hindu Dharma, (New Delhi:1991),p.120.)
Referances to cow slaughter for sacrifices in Rig Vedas:

Hymn CLXIX* (The Rig Veda, translated by Ralph H Griffith, (New york: 1992),p.647.
Rig veda (RV VIII. 43.11)

Rig Veda (RV.X.16.7) mentions ritual envoloping of the corpse with cow flesh before applying to the fire.

Slaughter of Bull (Brahmanas 1.15) Aiteriya Brahmana.

Fat bull slaughter Brihadaranyaka Upanishada (VI.4.18)

Openions of some scholars:

"Frankly speaking, it is not possible to say definately who is a Hindu and what is Hinduism. These questions have been considered again and again by eminent scholars, and so far no satisfactory answer has been given. Hinduism has within itself all types of religions such as theism, atheism, polytheism, Adwaitism, Dwaitism, Saivism, Vaishnavism, and so forth. It contains nature worship, idol worship, demon worship, symbol worship, self worship, and highest god worship. Its conflicting philosophies will confound any ordinary person. From barbarious practices and Dark superstitions, there is place for all gradations and varities in Hinduism. Similarly, among the Hindu population are found half barbarian wild tribes, and depressed classes and untouchables, along with small number of cultured, gentle natures and highly evolved souls."

----Swami Dharma Theerta.

"Hinduism does not rest on the authority of one book or one prophet, nor does it possess a common creed- like the Kalma[sic.] of Islam-- acceptable to all. That renders a common defination of Hinduism a bit difficult."

----M K Gandhi.

[Hinduism is]"...a name without any content.. Its content, if any, has altered from age to age, from community to community. It ment one thing in the Vedic period, another in the Brahmanical, a third in the Buddhist-- one to Saivite, another to Vaishnavite and Sakta"*

--- Dr. Radhakrishnan, ex-President of india and interpreter of Hinduism.
(India An Introduction, (New Delhi:1990), pp.19-20)

"Hinduism, as a faith, is vague, amorphous, many sided, all things to all men. It is hardly possible to define it, or indeed to say definately whether it is a religion or not, in the usual sense of the word. In it's present form, and even in the past, it embraces many beliefs and practices, from the highest to the lowest, often opposed to or contradcting eachother".

----- Jawaharlal Nehru, (Nehru, p.75).

"In tracing the evolution of religion in India, no problem is more difficult than that of framing a defination of Hinduism as we observe it at the present day. Many of the tests which have been proposed from time to time are obviously inadequate... The difficulty of framing a defination of Hinduism arises from the fact that under the general title 'Hindu' are included classes whose belief, ritual, and mode of life are strangely diverse,-- the learned Brahman, who is the follower of the Vedanta philosophy; the modern theist or agnostic, trained in the learning of the west; the semi-barbarious hilman, who eats almost any kind of food without scruple, knows little of Brahmanical mythology, belief, or ritual, and in time of need bows before the stone which he supposes to be occupied by the god of his tribe or village"

-------Encyclopedia of Religions and Ethics, 6:698.
"Hinduism is far more unstructured than most other religions. It has no archbishops, chiefrabbis, grand muftis. Each Hindu decides for himself which manifestations of God are most important to him, what scriptures to accept as authentic, which holy man to follow. The one ineluctable certainity is a persons Dharma"

---The Economist, June 8th, 1991, p.22,col.1.

Rebuttal for alleged praise of women in Hinduism.

Now I will be dealing with Rebuttals to a few points that some Hindutvawadis claim to Praise of women in Hindu scriptures. I disagree with them totally because I have studied Hindu scriptures & I dont find such thing anywhere in Hinduism.
If at all , if we find such things we can conclude that they are either Quoted out of context or Delibrately Misquoted/ Mistranslated.

The following Quotes are taken from the community "Intro to Hinduism" & the name of the thread is "Women in Hinduism".

I was supposed to give my rebuttals there, but since I took a break, I couldnt do so. Once I finish it here, I will post the same posts in that community, so that they wont get a chance to point finger against me.

Thank you for your support.

Fanatic Hindu states :

Manu Smriti - Chapter 3: http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/manu/manu03.htm
.
51. No father who knows (the law) must take even the smallest gratuity for his daughter; for a man who, through avarice, takes a gratuity, is a seller of his offspring.
.
52. But those (male) relations who, in their folly, live on the separate property of women, (e.g. appropriate) the beasts of burden, carriages, and clothes of women, commit sin and will sink into hell.
.
53. Some call the cow and the bull (given) at an Arsha wedding 'a gratuity;' (but) that is wrong, since (the acceptance of) a fee, be it small or great, is a sale (of the daughter).
.
54. When the relatives do not appropriate (for their use) the gratuity (given), it is not a sale; (in that case) the (gift) is only a token of respect and of kindness towards the maidens.
.
55. Women must be honoured and adorned by their fathers, brothers, husbands, and brothers-in-law, who desire (their own) welfare.
.
56. Where women are honoured, there the gods are pleased; but where they are not honoured, no sacred rite yields rewards.
.
57. Where the female relations live in grief, the family soon wholly perishes; but that family where they are not unhappy ever prospers.
.
58. The houses on which female relations, not being duly honoured, pronounce a curse, perish completely, as if destroyed by magic.
.
59. Hence men who seek (their own) welfare, should always honour women on holidays and festivals with (gifts of) ornaments, clothes, and (dainty) food.
.
60. In that family, where the husband is pleased with his wife and the wife with her husband, happiness will assuredly be lasting.

Manu Smriti - Chapter 3:

Stress for MALE Child:

48. On the even nights sons are conceived and daughters on the uneven ones; hence a man who desires to have sons should approach his wife in due season on the even (nights).

49. A male child is produced by a greater quantity of male seed, a female child by the prevalence of the female; if (both are) equal, a hermaphrodite or a boy and a girl; if (both are) weak or deficient in quantity, a failure of conception (results).

262. The (sacrificer's) first wife, who is faithful and intent on the worship of the manes, may eat the middle-most cake, (if she be) desirous of bearing a son.

263. (Thus) she will bring forth a son who will be long-lived, famous, intelligent, rich, the father of numerous offspring, endowed with (the quality of) goodness, and righteous.

Stress upon Beauty insted of piouty:

61. For if the wife is not radiant with beauty, she will not attract her husband; but if she has no attractions for him, no children will be born.

62. If the wife is radiant with beauty, the whole house is bright; but if she is destitute of beauty, all will appear dismal.

Miscillinious

166. A shepherd, a keeper of buffaloes, the husband of a remarried woman, and a carrier of dead bodies, (all these) must be carefully avoided.

173. He who lasciviously dallies with the widow of a deceased brother, though she be appointed (to bear a child by him) in accordance with the sacred law, must be known to be a Didhishupati.

191. But he who, being invited to a Sraddha, dallies with a Sudra woman, takes upon himself all the sins which the giver (of the feast) committed.

5. A damsel who is neither a Sapinda on the mother's side, nor belongs to the same family on the father's side, is recommended to twice-born men for wedlock and conjugal union.

Fanatic Hindu says:

Some points to be considered while POINTING to Law books in Hinduism:
.
1. In earlier days, society was run by males by and large. So, rules were according to that. Women were more limited to household chores and were dependent on men - father, brother, husband, sons.. BUT NOW, women are self reliant - they are professionals - even leading companies. So rules are changing too.
.
2. Earlier days, family structure was more like joint system. But now more and more nuclear family are there... so women are getting more responsibilities for outside chores and men are helping in house chores.
.
3. Other than these things, all other laws were more or less provided equality to men and women - inheritance girl = boy, being witness - man = woman, occupation - lot of women were responsible for compiling Vedas and other scriptures. They would teach at gurukuls.

My Rebuttal:

1. Even today the society is run by Males by and large! The Rules or Law of any religion are based on Sacred scriptures, not on society. A society is formed by following the Laws which are based on scriptures. The sacred laws never Change.

What is the meaning of dependence ? Is feeding, clothing, loving & fulfilling the needs of Mother, sister, daughter amount to they being dependent ?

Today 100% Indian women are not professionals. Majority of them live in Rural areas where they are still so called dependent on their Male family members!

Even in Urban areas, Many women are Home makers, sisters & daughter do still depend on Male members till they become professionals!!!!Hence the point is Unreasonable.

2. Joint famalies = Less work coz of division of work.
Nucluar Families = More work coz of non-divison of work.
What does this has to do with Law book of Hinduism ?

There is no statistics that proves that Majority men help their women in house hold chores!

Neither is there any statistics that states there are more nuclear families than Joint, coz we very well know that majority live in Rural areas.

3. The laws didnt provide equality to man & women. (You can refer to my points in my previous posts).

Do refer these verses for further details:

Manu VIII.416

Manu V.148

Manu Smrti IX.3

Manu Smrti V.154

Manu (V.157)

The women's role in compiling the Vedas is minimal, but Major credit does goes to MEN!

"Lord Indra himself has said that women has very little intelligence. She cannot be thaught" - Rig Ved 8/33/17

At another place it is written:

"There cannot be any friendship with a women. Her heart is more cruel than heyna" - Rig Ved 10/95/15.

Fanatic Hindu says:

Status of Women in Veda
.
Do you know Vedas are ONLY scriptures that were revealed to WOMEN also?
.
Similarly woman is designated as:

1. Aditi, because she is not dependent (Nirukta, 4/22)

2. Aghnyā, for she is not to be hurt (Y.V. 8/43)

3. Bŗhatī, for she is large hearted (Y.V. 11/64)

4. Chandrā, because she is happy (Y.V. 8/43)

5. Devakāmā, since she is pious. (A.V. 14/1/47)

6. Devī, since she is divine (A.V. 14/1/45, Y.V. 4/23)

7. Dhruvā, for she is firm (Y.V. 11/64) ā

8. Havyā, because she is worthy of invocation (Y.V. 8/43)

9. Idā, for she is worshippable (Y.V. 8/43)

10. Jyotā, because she is illuminating, bright (Y.V. 8/43)

11. Kāmyā, because she is lovable (Y.V. 8/43)

12. Kshamā, for she is tolerant/indulgent /patient (A.V. 12/1/29)

13. Mahī, since she is great (Y.V. 8/43)

14. Menā, because she deserves respect (Nirukta 3/21/2)

15. Nārī, for she is not inimical to anyone (A.V. 14/1/59)

16. Purandhih, for she is munificent, liberal (Y.V. 22/22)

17. Rantā, because she is lovely (Y.V. 8/43)

My rebuttal:

If the intention of revealing the Vedas upon women was to increase their status or make them equal to men, why would the same vedas mention;

'Rig Veda' censures women by saying:

"Lord Indra himself has said that women has very little intelligence. She cannot be thaught" - Rig Ved 8/33/17

"There cannot be any friendship with a women. Her heart is more cruel than heyna" - Rig Ved 10/95/15.

In 'Aiterey Puran', preaching of the 'Rig Veda' in harsih chandra -Narad dialogue, Narad says:

"The daughter causes pain"

this is a clear cut contradiction. either Vedas are liying or the author of the statement.

Vedas deal with Sacrificial Hymns, it would be an height of foolishness to derive a statement from the Vedas in support of women. It is equalent to searching a lake in the middle of the desert!

1. 4,22: aditir.adīnā.deva.mātā/ the term means Limitless not independent!

2. Idâ, delightful, worshipful, loveable, splendid, shining One,
Inviolable, full of sap, the Mighty One, most glorious,
These are thy names, O Cow: tell thou the Gods that I act
righteously.(Y.V. 8/43)

3. Having arisen wax thou great, yea, stand thou up
immovable.(Y.V. 11/64)

4. Refer Point no 2 .(Y.V. 8/43)

5. I place upon the lap of Earth the Goddess, a firm auspicious
stone to bring thee children.
Stand on it, thou, greeted with joy, resplendent: a long long
life may Savitar vouchsafe thee.(A.V. 14/1/47)

6. They who have spun, and woven, and extended Goddesses who
have drawn the ends together,
May they invest thee for full long existence. Heiress of lengthen-
ed life, endue this garment,(A.V. 14/1/45)
I with my thought have commerced with divine far-sighted
Dakshinâ.
Steal not my life. I will not thine. May I, O Goddess, in
thy sight find for myself a hero son.(Y.V. 4/23)

7. Having arisen wax thou great, yea, stand thou up
immovable.
To thee, O Mitra, I entrust this Fire-pan for security. May
it remain without a break.(Y.V. 11/64)

8. Refer point no 2 & 4.(Y.V. 8/43)

9. Refer point no 2 .(Y.V. 8/43)

10. Refer point no 2 .(Y.V. 8/43)

11. Refer point no 2 [d](Y.V. 8/43)

12. I speak to Prithivī the purifier, to patient Earth who groweth
strong through Brahma.
O Earth, may we recline on thee who bearest strength, increase,
portioned share of food, and fatness.(A.V. 12/1/29)

13. Refer point no 2 [d](Y.V. 8/43)

14. . Menā, Not found in .(Nirukta 3/21/2)

15. Lift up your weapons. Drive away the demons. Transport this
woman to the world of virtue.
Dilator, most wise, hath found for her a husband. Let him who
knows, King Bhaga, go before her.(A.V. 14/1/59)

16. O Brahman, let there be born in the kingdom the Brahman
illustrious for religious knowledge; let there be born the
Râjanya, heroic, skilled archer, piercing with shafts,
mighty warrior; the cow giving abundant milk; the ox
good at carrying; the swift courser; the industrious
woman. May Parjanya send rain according to our desire;
may our fruit-bearing plants ripen; may acquisition and
preservation of property be secured to us.(Y.V. 22/22)

17. Refer point no 2 (Y.V. 8/43)

Fanatic Hindu says:

“Women are worthy of worship. They are the fate of the household, the lamp of enlightenment for all in the household. They bring solace to the family and are an integral part of dharmic life. Even heaven is under the control of women. The gods reside in those households where women are worshipped and in households where women are slighted all efforts at improvement go in vain.” Manusmriti 3-56

This beautifully lyrical sloka from the Atharvaveda clearly states that the woman leads the man: “The sun god follows the first illuminated and enlightened goddess Usha (dawn) in the same manner as men emulate and follow women.” Athravaveda Samhita, Part 2, Kanda 27, sukta 107, sloka 5705.

Women were considered to be the embodiment of great virtue and wisdom.
Thus we have: “O bride! May the knowledge of the Vedas be in front of you and behind you, in your centre and in your ends. May you conduct your life after attaining the knowledge of the Vedas. May you be benevolent, the harbinger of good fortune and health and live in great dignity and indeed be illumined in your husband’s home.” Atharva Veda 14-1-64.

Women were allowed full freedom of worship.

“The wife should do agnihotra (yagna), sandhya (puja) and all other daily religious rituals. If, for some reason, her husband is not present, the woman alone has full rights to do yagna.” Rigveda Samhita, part 1, sukta 79, sloka 872.

That women and men are equal in the eyes of dharma is made explicit in a beautiful sloka from the Rigveda: “O women! These mantras are given to you equally (as to men). May your thoughts, too, be harmonious. May your assemblies be open to all without discrimination. Your mind and consciousness should be harmonious. I (the rishi) give you these mantras equally as to men and give you all and equal powers to absorb (the full powers) of these mantras.” Rigveda 10-191-3.

My Rebuttal:

Manusmrithi Chapter 3:Verse

55. Women must be honoured and adorned by their fathers, brothers, husbands, and brothers-in-law, who desire (their own) welfare.

56. ------As mentioned above--------

59. Hence men who seek (their own) welfare, should always honour women on holidays and festivals with (gifts of) ornaments, clothes, and (dainty) food.

This is not selfless love towards women but some kind of Deal, where give and take policy is mentioned. Women are showered with gifts & Ornoments in order to make Men Happy. The sentence "Women are worthy of worship" is nowhere to be found in Manusmrithi, it is just an addition.

Athravaveda Samhita, Part 2, Kanda 27, sukta 107, sloka 5705.

I couldnt find the online referance given above, yet if you look into the AtharvaVeda Samhita it consists of spells, prayers, charms, and hymns. There are prayers to protect crops from lightning and drought, charms against venomous serpents, love spells, healing spells, hundreds of verses, some derived from the Rig veda, all very ancient. which deal with numerous incantations and metaphysical texts.

The term Usha in sanskrit means "goddess of dawn; daughter of Sky and sister of Night".

In reality the cause of Dawn & Dusk is the result of Sun, not the vice-versa. This identification is taken literally in the traditional genealogies of Hindu mythology.

Here is an Example:Atharva Veda
HYMN XII of Book no 19.

A prayer to Ushas or Dawn for wealth and long life

Dawn drives away her sister's gloom, and through her excellence
makes her retrace her path.
Through her may we gain God-appointed treasure, and with
brave sons be glad through hundred winters.

Are Women considered to be the embodiment of great virtue and wisdom?

Atharva Veda 14-1-64. does state;

Let prayer he offered up before and after, prayer in the middle,
lastly, all around her.
Reaching the Gods' inviolable castle shine in thy lord's world
gentle and auspicious.

But it is related On the Bridal of Sūryā, marriage ceremonies in general.

It is also quoted out of context.

See what other verses state:Atharva Veda BOOK XIV HYMN I

13 The bridal pomp of Sūryā, which Savitar started, moved along.
In Maghā days are oxen slain, in Phalgunis they wed the bride.

14 When on your three-wheeled chariot, O ye Asvins, ye came as
suitors unto Sūrya's bridal,

50 I take thy hand in mine for happy fortune that thou mayst reach
old age with me thy consort,
Gods, Aryaman, Bhaga, Savitar, Purandhi, have given thee to be
my household's mistress.

51 Bhaga and Savitar the God have clasped that hand of thine in
theirs,
By rule and law thou art my wife: the master of thy house am I.

Rigveda Samhita, part 1, sukta 79, sloka 872.

Such online referance is not to be found

Rigveda 10-191-3.

"The place is common, common the assembly, common the mind, so be their thought united.
A common purpose do I lay before you, and worship with your general oblation."

The shloka dosent deal about women at all, but about the Agni gathering up his friends all ancient gods in assembly.

Wether you consider Goddess Mother.. the three goddess ila amba amabika or not

So there is no doubt.. women have no regards in Vedas, as more than 50 million females are missing from the land of so called Godesses from the beguining of Vedic Dark ages.

Thank you.

Genocide of Women in Hinduism by Sita Agarwal

It would be a height of Un-Rightiousness & a kind of Cheating If I do not give the due respect to the Author of this book on Hinduism.

Sita Agarwal. She is an feminist , fighting for the rights of women in India. This book was written in the year June 1999. when the status of women in India has sunk to its lowest ebb.

This book is dedicated by Sita Agarwal to her late younger sister, who was murdered as a result of a dowry-related incident while in full blossom of youth. And her early death had a deep impact on her.

She states: I hope that this work may save the lives of some of my Indian sisters and help reduce the suffering of Indian womankind. The reason for writing this book is purely humanitarian, so I have made this book available in the public domain. The more widely this book is read, the more innocent lives shall be saved. Please distribute it freely, and help save Indian women. Thank you in advance for your efforts.

NOTE: Her original book has a few problems with referances, earlier I had posted her book as it was, but after going through her referances, I decided to verify & correct the referances. The following article will have authentic referances & Online links will also be provided.

Apart from that few other points that I myself have researched upon will be put up with good reasoning. A few verses from Hindu scriptures allegedly praising women in Hindu society will also be delt with counter views.

Any objections in my postings can be pointed out once I complete my Posts.

Thank you very much.

Thank you Sita Agarwal.

Yours,

AryanSlayer.

Quick Glance @ UN report on Women in India.

According to reports from India, genetic testing for sex selection has become a booming business, especially in the country's northern regions.

Indian gender-detection clinics drew protests from women's groups after the appearance of advertisements suggesting that it was better to spend $38 now to terminate a female foetus than $3,800 later on her dowry.

A study of amniocentesis procedures conducted in a large Bombay hospital found that 95.5 per cent of foetuses identified as female were aborted, compared with a far smaller percentage of male foetuses.

In India, an average of five women a day are burned in dowry-related disputes -- and many more cases are never reported.

The Medical Journal Lancet reports:

Based on conservative assumptions, the practice accounts for about 0·5 million missing female births yearly, translating over the past 2 decades into the abortion of some 10 million female fetuses.

Unicef estimates that up to 50 million girls and women have gone missing in India as a result of systematic gender discrimination.

Seven thousand fewer girls are born every day in India than the global average.

The 2001 census showed that there were 927 women for every 1,000 men in the Indian population compared with an average male-female birth ratio in most countries of 1,050:1,000.

The worst-affected region was Punjab, with 798 girls per 1,000 boys, meaning that the state had lost about a fifth of its natural female population.

A Word from William Corrigan Int Author.

India also allows the deaths of more than 1 million female infants each year on account of Hindu dowry laws which turn girl children into economic liabilites.

Over 50 years, that is 50 million girls who have been killed by the present Indian government. By comparison, Hitler murdered `only' an alleged 5 million Jews.

By contrast, the much-maligned Pakistan and other Islamic nations have a much better track record when it comes to killing baby girls.

In short, the arguments presented by pro-Hindu lobbyists in favour of India are far from convincing.

The West should stop its pro-Hindu tilt before it is too late.

-- William Corrigan.

Everyone has heard the Brahmin male propaganda that the customs of sati, dowry, female infanticide and all other social suppression of women in India is the result of `social degeneration', `coruption', or still worse, `foreign Christian or Muslim influence'.

This is all one big lie designed to fool women.

The reasons are far more deep-rooted, and are fully the result of Brahmin male conspiracies.

The real reason for the sad state of Indian women is the continuation of the Vedic and Vaishnava religions, collectively referred to as Brahminism or `astika' Hinduism. These religions clearly and unambiguously justify and prescribe the crushing of women to the status of sub-humans.

Rather than being due to some kind of `corruption', the ghastly practices of sati, female infanticide, dowry and related acts are actually enforced by Vedic and Hindu scriptures. Although this may sound like some Christian or Muslim propaganda, it is not.

I have backed up my research with quotations from Vedic and Vaishnava scriptures, and have shown that these religions, and nothing else, are the main culprits behind the most anti-woman system the world has ever seen.

Far from being `enlightened' and `progressive', Brahmanism is in fact the very fountain of the evils of sati, female infanticide, devadasism and dowry.

. Instead of wasting time attacking trivialities, the Hindu religion itself must be attacked by Indian feminism.

If Indian women are to become free, it is this faith that must tackled, and nothing else.

No other religion, not even Islam or Christianity, burns its women, or slaughters one-tenth of all women each generation except Hinduism.

Indeed, Brahminism is nothing but the legitimised genocide of women.

In this article I have performed calculations showing how Brahminist men, and not Communists or Nazis, have been responsible for the greatest genocide (namely that of women) in the history of the world.

The worst holocaust in human history was not that of the Jews or Africans, but was that inflicted on women by Brahmins.

A significant part of this holocaust occurred in India during thousands of years of Brahmanic tyranny. Even in the modern era, Brahmin-enforced laws lead to the deaths of more people each decade than Hitler killed during the entire Second World War.

Here Authentic Verses from Authentic Sources will be produced!

The Vedas prescribe an intense hatred for women, and female children were considered highly undesirable in the nomadic Aryan patriarchal view. Indeed, so deep-rooted was the desire for male children that the Vedas prescribe numerous prayers for male offspring :

Atharva Veda. Book 6 HYMN XI

An epithalamian charm to ensure the birth of a boy:

" Let a female child be born somewhere else; here, let a male child be born."

The `holy' and `great' Vedas explicitly sanction the practice of female infanticide.
Indeed, the real reason for this truly animal practice lies deep in the blood-stained verses of the Vedas. The following verse, from the `sacred' Vedas of the `noble' faith of Hinduism, allows the practice, and takes it for granted as a normal practice in Vedic religion :

Taittirya Samhita VI.5.10.3 :

" Hence they [ Aryans ] reject a female child when born, and take up a male."

< Sans. " Tasmat striyam jatam parasyanti ut pumamsam haranti " >

CHILD-MARRIAGE

Lawbooks prescribe that the best partner for a man in one-third his age. Thus a man 18 year old should marry a girl 6 years old! This is the wonderful wisdom of the most authoritative Hindu law-book -

Manu.IX.94 : " A man, aged thirty years, shall marry a maiden of twelve who pleases him, or a man of twenty-four a girl of eight years of age; if (the performance of) his duties would otherwise be impeded, he must marry sooner."

One of the reasons for such early marriage of girls was to prevent any scandals.

The `great god' Rama was 16 years old when he married Sita, and Sita was only 14 years old . However, the age of Sita is now known to be a forgery; it is almost certain that she was, as per the Manuid laws, one-third of his age, namely 5 years old.

It is inconceivable to imagine that `great' Rama could have dated to violate the Vedic laws of Manu.

ENFORCEMENT OF VIRGINITY

As a further instance of the oppressive rules of Hinduism imposed upon women, young girls were required to remain virgin till marriage. Failing this requirement, they would be discarded by the husbands at will :

Manu.IX.72 : " Though (a man) may have accepted a damsel in due form, he may abandon (her if she be) blemished, diseased, or deflowered, and (if she have been) given with fraud."

Such girls were reduced to a pitiable state and were unable to find husbands thereafter.

They were mostly forced to live the life of early wretched widowhood.

This shows that the systematic discrimination meted out by Hinduism to women extends down to early childhood.

Whilst Brahmin men were free to indulge in debauchery with aboriginal Devadasis at an early age, girls had to remain chaste virgins.

HINDU WIVES PUBLICLY DEVOURED BY DOGS

The death penalty was almost invariably prescribed for Aryan women guilty of infidelity. Aryan races all over the world practiced this; thus the Germanic warrior would instantly slay his wife and her lover.

The Manu Smrti, the most authoritative law-book of `astik' Hinduism (ie. Brahmanism), states that adulterous women are to be torn apart by dogs :

Manu Smrti.VIII.371 : " If a wife, proud of the greatness of her relatives or (her own) excellence, violates the duty which she owes to her lord, the king shall cause her to be devoured by dogs in a place frequented by many."

Manu Smrti.VIII.372 : " Let him cause the male offender to be burnt on a red-hot iron bed; they shall put logs under it, (until) the sinner is burned (to death) ."

Many savage peoples put the adulterous wife to death, but none did it by allowing wild dogs to devour the woman in public.

Even if a women had touched another man with her hand, she is to be devoured by savage dogs in public ! These laws are stated in the `humane' and `wonderful' religion of Hinduism :

Manu Smrti.VIII.356 : " He who addresses the wife of another man at a Tirtha, outside the village, in a forest, or at the confluence of rivers, suffer (the punishment for) adulterous acts (samgrahana). ."

Manu Smrti.VIII.357 : " Offering presents (to a woman), romping (with her), touching her ornaments and dress, sitting with her on a bed, all (these acts) are considered adulterous acts (samgrahana).."

Manu Smrti.VIII.358 : " If one touches a woman in a place (which ought) not (to be touched) or allows (oneself to be touched in such a spot), all (such acts done) with mutual consent are declared (to be) adulterous (samgrahana).."

Thus, Hinduism prescribes that the wife who touches, meets, or even talks to a man who is not her husband is to be fed to animals ! No other nation, even in its darkest period, prescribed such savage punishments for women.

AMPUTATION OF LESBIANS

It may be supposed that Hindu women could escape these ghastly punishments by avoiding men and seeking solace in Sapphic relationships. Alas ! The bigoted Brahmins had foreseen this possibility and severely persecuted these women also.

Thus, Lesbians are cruelly punished by the Brahminist Vaishnavas by having their fingers chopped off. -

Manu Smrti.VIII.369-370 : " A damsel who pollutes (another) damsel must be fined two hundred (panas), pay the double of her (nuptial) fee, and receive ten (lashes with a) rod. But a woman who pollutes a damsel shall instantly have (her head) shaved or two fingers cut off , and be made to ride (through the town) on a donkey."

STRIPPING OF FEMALE PROPERTY

In order to remove the last vestige of womens' independance and crush them to the status of sub-humans, the Vedic and Vaishnava religions stripped women of all properties. Thus, the most authoritative Vaishnavite law-book states that women cannot have any property :

Manu VIII.416 " A wife, a son, and a slave, these three are declared to have no property ; the wealth which they earn is (acquired) for him to whom they belong."

The term `to whom they belong' indicates that women were, in effect, mere chattel, machines for labour.

DESTRUCTION OF INDEPENDANCE

All aspects of feminine independance are annihilated in Hinduism :

Manu V.148 " In childhood a female must be subject to her father, in youth to her husband, when her lord is dead to her sons; a women must never be independant."

A woman is thus declared to be innately unfit for independance. Thus, the Brahmin sage Manu states in his law-book, the most important in Hinduism :

Manu Smrti IX.3 " Her father protects (her) in childhood, her husband protects (her) in youth, and her sons protect (her) in old age; a woman is never fit for independance."

MENTAL SUBJUGATION

As another aspect of Brahmanic brainwashing of men against women, the Aryan Brahmins corrupted the minds of the women themselves in order to complete their enslavement from within.

They were threatened with harsh punishments in later lives if they dared to oppose Brahmin laws :

Manu Smrti V.164 " By violating her duty towards her husband, a wife is disgraced in this world, (after death) whe enters the womb of a jackal, and is tormented by diseases (as the punishment of) her sin."

Whatever defects her husband may have, the wife must unquestioningly obey him and worship him as a god :

Manu Smrti V.154 " Though destitute of virtue, or seeking pleasure (elsewhere); or devoid of good qualities, (yet) a husband must be constantly worshipped as a god by a dutiful wife."

THE CURSE OF THE VEDIC DOWRY SYSTEM

The Vedas prescribe that a dowry be given by the bride's family to the groom. The Rig Veda states that cows and gifts given by the Aryan father of the bride to the daughter accompanied the bride's procession [ Rg Ved X.85 ]

Kakshivat in the Vedas says he became rich by the father-in-law giving him 10 chariots and maids and 1060 cows during the marriage ceremony [ Rg Ved I.126 ]

Dowry is referred to as `Streedhana' and is an ancient practice!

The ancient Vedic custom of kanyadan, where the father presented his daughter with jewelry and clothes at the time of her marriage, and vardakshina where the father presented the groom with cash and kind are, in essence the dowry system.

This curse is fully sanctioned in the Vedas.

These examples show that dowry was practiced in ancient times.

Thus, in order to marry Sita to `godly' Rama, her father had to supply her with 100 crores of gold mohurs, 10000 carriages, 10 lakh horses, 60000 elephants, 100000 male slaves, 50000 female slaves, 2 crores of cows and 100000 pearls, and many other items .

ENFORCED ILLITERACY

Such is the abject state of degradation of women in Hinduism that even the most basic rights are taken away. These include the right to read, and even the right to live. Thus, women and Sudras were declared to be unfit for study of the Vedas as per the Holy Hindu scriptures :

Bhag.Pur. I.4.25 : " And as women, Sudras and the inferior members of the twice-borne classes were unfitted for hearing the Veda, and were infatuated in desiring the blessings, arising from the ceremonies, the muni, with a vision to their felicity, in his kindness composed the narrative called the Mahabharata."

NO REMARRIAGE

Even if the wife ran away from the harsh husband, she could never get remarried. Remarriage was explicitly ruled out for widows and women:

• Manu (V.157) states that a widow should never think of remarriage after her husband's death.

• The Aditya Purana (XXI.14) also says that widow remarriage should not be perfomrd in the Kali age.

• If by a mistake or under some pressure a person married a widow, he had to perform penance and abandon her as the marriage was invalid [ Laghu Ashvalayana XXI.6 ]

These citations, from the `holy' Hindu texts, clearly show the real status of women in this so-called `religion'. In order to strengthen this legislation, even the very offspring that a remarried woman may conceive were declared to be illegitimate :

Manu Smrti.V.162 : " Offspring begotten by another man is here not (considered lawful), nor (does offspring begotten) on another man's wife (belong to the begetter), nor is a second husband anywhere prescribed for virtuous women."

NO DIVORCE

All societies that grant basic human rights to women grant them the ability to divorce at least in the most severe cases of abuse or cruelty by the husband. Yet even this right to escape from the clutches of a monster is taken away in animal Hinduism.

SCRIPTURAL ENFORCEMENT (SATI)

The most sacred of Aryan scriptures are the Vedas, and the Rig Veda, the oldest veda, explicitly sanctions the custom of sati.

Rig Veda X.18.7 : " Let these women, whose husbands are worthy and are living, enter the house with ghee (applied) as corrylium ( to their eyes). Let these wives first step into the pyre, tearless without any affliction and well adorned."

Further, the Vishnusmirti gives only two choices for the widow:

Vishnu Smirti.XXV.14 : "If a woman's husband dies, let her lead a life of chastity, or else mount his pyre"

Brahma Purana.80.75 : " It is the highest duty of the woman to immolate herself after her husband "

Once again we hear that sati is sanctioned by the Vedas:

Brahma Purana.80.75 : " [ Sati ] ... is enjoined by the Vedas "

Brahma Purana.80.75 : " [ Sati is ] greatly reputed in all the worlds "

Long life is promised to the sati: Brahma Purana.80.76, 80.77 : " She [ the sati ] lives with her husband in heaven for as many years as there are pores in the human body, ie. for 35 million years. "

Vishnu Dharmasutra XXV.14 : " On her husband's death, the widow should observe celibacy or should ascend the funeral pyre after him."

This concept is illustrated in the Valmiki Ramayana; after Lord Rama murdered the relatively innocent Vali from ambush, Vali's wife Tara requests if he can kill her as well so she can join her husband:

"[Tara:] '(Pray) actually kill me with that very arrow with which my darling has surely been killed (by you). When killed (by you) I shall reach his presence. Vali may not feel happy without me. Even on coming in contact with celestial nymphs and gazing on them with curiosity he would certainly not love those nymphs though adorned with a chaplet of red flowers of every description and clad in a many-coloured costume, unless he sees me (there), O prince…' "

-- Ramayana 4:24.

ARYAN SATI GODDESSES

The Vedic Aryan origin of sati is further evident from the fact that several Aryan ladies and `goddesses' performed sati :

• Several of Krishna's wives performed sati upon his death, including Rukmini, Rohini, Devaki, Bhadraa and Madura [ Mah.Bhar. Mausalaparvan 7.18 ]

• Madri, second wife of Pandu, considered an incarnation of the goddess Dhriti, performed sati [ Mah.Bhar. Adiparvan 95.65 ]

• Rohini, a wife of Vasudev, Krishna's father, who gave birth to Balram ( Devki's child ), later became a sati. The Vishnu Purana refers to this mass burning of Krishna's wives :

Vishnu Purana.V.38 : " The 8 queens of Krishna, who have been named, with Rukmini at their head, embraced the body of Hari, and entered the funeral fire. Revati also embracing the corpse of Rama, entered the blazing pile, which was cool to her, happy in contact with her lord. Hearing these events, Ugrasena and Anakadundubhi, with Devaki and Rohini, committed themselves to the flames."

Myth of Mohamadians (Muslims) Enforcing Sati on Conquered kingdom women!

Islamic Califate and Sati : One far-fetched Hindu fundamentalist idea ascribes the origin of sati as being due to the molestation of `Hindu' women by Muslim men.

Here are some questions for bigoted Brahminist historians about their fraudulent hypotheses on the Islamic origin of Sati :

• Which `Muslim invaders' molested Krishna's wives, forcing them to perform Sati ?

• Which Muslims introduced the Sati hymns into the Vedas ?

• Which Muslims fabricated the whole lot of Hindu scriptures of Puranas, Smrtis and Shastras, inserting the verses praising Sati ?

• Were the Ocean of Story, the Jatakas and the Panca Tantra authored by Muslims in order to fabricate evidence of Sati ?

Needless to say, this fallacious theory would imply the existence of Muslims to molest Krishna's wives, Madri and the galaxy of Vedic Aryan women who performed self-immolation.

The saintly Aurangzeb manifestly opposed the custom of sati and prohibited it in his empire.

VEDIC RELIGIOUS WAR AGAINST WOMEN

Hence, the attitude permeating the Vedas is one of utmost hostility and hatred against women. Women are consistently demonised and compared to animals in the `sacred' Vedas :

" The friendship of women does not last long. Their nature is like that of the hyena." [ Rig Veda 10-95-10 ]

• " (When creating them) Manu allotted to women (a love of their) bed, (of their) seat and (of) ornament, impure desires, wrath, dishonesty, malice and bad conduct." [ Manu.9.17 ]

• " For women no (sacramental) rite (is performed) with sacred texts, thus the law is settled; women (are) destitute of strength and destitute of (the knowledge of) Vedic texts, (are as) impure as falshood (itself) , that is a fixed rule." [ Manu.IX.18 ]

" Day and night women must be kept in dependance by the males (of) their (families), and, if they attach themselves to sensual enjoyments, they must be kept under one's control." [ Manu.9.2 ]

• " And to this effect many sacred texts are sung also in the Vedas, in order to (make) fully known the true disposition (of women); hear the expiation of their (sins)." [ Manu.9.19 ]

• " According to a verse in Adharvana Veda a wife is given by God to a husband to serve him and to bear him children. Further she is referred to by her husband as his subordinate and slave." [ Periyar cting Adharvana Veda 14.01.52 ]

" No birth is worse than the birth of a woman. Women are the root-cause of all evils " [ Periyar citing the Dharma Shastras ]

Here one can clearly see how Hinduism treats women. They are referred to as hyenas and compared to animals. What true models and guidelines for the good Aryan Hindu in his generous treatment of women !

The barbaric Vedic Aryan invaders had scarcely any respect for women, who were considered useless as war machines. Hence, female infanticide was common in order to destroy the excess burden of women.

VAISHNAVITE PERSECUTION OF WOMEN

Vaishnavism is the religion that grew out of the Vedic religion and became the dominant Brahmanic faith after obliterating Buddhism and Jainism.. It hence inherited the Aryan male chauvinist dogmas of the Vedic religion. It is now the dominant form of the 6 `astika' schools of Brahmanism in existence, for 75 % of all `Hindus' are Vaishnavites.

Hence, the Vaishnava literature (Puranas, Smrtis, etc.) pour venom and hatred against women. Women are generally termed as " thieves", "dacoits", "pirates", " thirsty tigresses" and "hypocrite cats" in the medieval Nath literature.

The following is only a small list of the vast corpus of poison and hatred spread against womenhood by the bigot Brahmin males :

"A woman's intellect is too deep and too cunning to be grasped by others." [ MBh.Anu.39-8 ]

• " A woman will not hesitate to kill her husband or her children or her brothers or any other person in order to fulfil her aim. Women have been mercilessly compared to a tiger and have been ill-treated and disgraced." [ Bagavatha Skundam. 4-14, 42-8, 4-36 ]

LIBERAL SUDRA SHAIVISM

Dravidian women enjoyed much greater freedom than their Aryan counterparts.

BRAHMINS KILL 1 MILLION GIRLS ANNUALLY

Given that the birth rate of India is 32.0 per 1000 and the total population of India is 835.8 milion , this implies an annual total of 26.7 million births, out of which 13.4 million would be girls. Given that the present sex ratio is 92/100, which implies that 8/100 girls are killed, this leads to 0.008 x 13.4 million = 1.072 million deaths. That means that 1.1 million girls are killed each year due to the Brahmin-enforced customs of Vedic female infanticide . This is the ugly truth behind the figure of 92 girls for every hundred boys.

200 MILLION GIRLS MURDERED BY BRAHMINS

The cumulative number of deaths due to centuries of Hindu female infanticide is truly staggering. Consider the Brahmanic Dark Ages of 1000 years(1500 BC - 500 BC), and let us adopt the standard population estimate of ancient India, namely 50 million and assume that the same birth rate and same sex ratio existed as today.

These are not unreasonable assumptions, given the statements of various travellers that several entire towns in Brahmanic India were destitute of girls.

These figures lead to 1.6 million births, or 0.8 million girls born per year of which at least 0.08 million are killed. For 2500 years that yields 2500 years x 0.08 million deaths per year = more than 200 million deaths for the Brahmanic Dark Ages.

This means that the Brahmins have murdered 200 million girls during their tyranny over India.

By comparison, all other genocides in world history pale into insignificance.

The Nazi genocide of Jews was only 5 million, whilst the largest Holocaust ever, that of the Native Americans by Latin and Anglo-Saxons, was only 100 million.

This genocide of female infants alone is sufficient to make the Brahmins the greatest mass murderers in human history .

What was the Importance of Laws of Manu & Manu smrithi in Hinduism ?

Mānava-Dharmaśāstra

The text presents itself as a discourse given by Manu, the progenitor of mankind to a group of seers, or rishis, who beseech him to tell them the "law of all the social classes" . Manu became the standard point of reference for all future Dharmaśāstras that followed it.

According to Hindu tradition, the Manusmriti records the words of Brahma. By attributing the words to supernatural forces, the text takes on an authoritative tone as a statement on Dharma, in opposition to previous texts in the field, which were more scholarly.

Women in India Today ?

The indian Constitution guarantees equall rights to both the sexes and does not discriminate on the basis of sacte, colour and creed

However, despite the constitutional provisions, do womens enjoy equality with men ?

The answer is 'No'. Their condition still remains miserable. Newspaper carry report of rape and burning of women for not bringing sufficient dowry or their inability to satisfy the demands of greedy in laws.

Basically, out present attitude towards women streams from our religious scriptures which efer to women as contempt.

Our oldest book are the 'Vedas' which contain highly objectionable and condemnable passages concerning women.

Taking cue from the 'Vedas' authors of subsequent religious scriptures referred to women in more contemptuous form.

'Sati pratha' (custom of burning the widow with the body of her husband), 'Dasi Pratha' (keeping the slave girls), 'Niyog Pratha' (ancient aryan custom of childless widow or women having sexual intercoutrse with a man other than husband to beget child), were among cruel customa responsible for the plight of the women.

Naturally, seeking shelter under such religious sanctions, unscrupulous women disgraced women to the maximuim possible extent and made them means of satisfying their lust.

Aryan Invasion And Genocide Of Dasyus !

Note: This thread is dedicated to Dr B R Ambedkar & Peryar.

This article has been written in the background of Saffronization of Education & educational instutions by Hardcore Hindutvawadis and the boot lickers of Brahmins.

There are Futile attempts going on all over the Country, on net to Disprove Aryan Invasion theory. But yet there are many Questions or rather facts that these Hindutva wadis are unable to answer.

Numerious National & International Secular Archiologists, Historians, Genesists, Archiozoologists have proved Aryan Invasion to be an Established Truth & Reality rather than just a theory.

Even if we consider all the above mentioned fellows WRONG, yet the Scriptures of Hinduism, does give a clear cut picture of Invasion & Genocide of the Inhabitants of this original land.

This article will present all the evidances + links to Zorastraism & the Origin of so called Hinduism from the land of ancient Persia.

Some psyco self claimed historians such as P N Oak & Knapp have started claiming the world belongs to the Hinduism drama. Which will be Exposed in a seperate thread.

One question that a Hindu who does not believe in the Aryan Invasion has to ask himself is, The whole world accepted Aryan Invasion of India till a few years ago, now suddenly why this hypocracy regarding Disproving it ?

Satyamewa Jayathe

Truth Alone Trumphs!

Let the sword of Truth Un-Veil numerious aspects of Aryan Invasion & Genocide of Dasyus.

The Word ARYA has got 4 meanings:

1. The variant *rya- is found unchanged in Sanskrit, where it referred to the upper crust of ancient Indian society. (Brahmins=Aryans)[From Sanskrit rya-, noble, Aryan.]

2. The term "Aryan" as a synonym for "Indo-European" or to a lesser extent for "Indo-Iranian" peoples.

3. The first of these is the form found in Iranian, as ultimately in the name of Iran itself (from Middle Persian rn (ahr), "(Land) of the Iranians," from the genitive plural of r, "Iranian").

4. In Nazism and neo-Nazism, a non-Jewish Caucasian, especially one of Nordic type, supposed to be part of a master race.

So Here we will be using the second meaning, which is a group of Indo-europian/ Indo-Iranian people who came to India through Khyber passes of Himalayas.
Though it has a signifance with third point.

Dasyus/ Dasa

Dasa (Sanskrit: दस, IAST: dāsa) is a Sanskrit term. Under the primary meaning 'enemy' sometimes relates to tribes identified as the enemies of the Vedic tribes in the Rigveda.

The identity of the Dasa has caused much debate, closely tied to arguments over Indo-Aryan migration, the claim that the Indo-Aryan authors of the Rigveda entered India from outside, displacing its earlier inhabitants.

Recent scholars, notably Asko Parpola, have claimed that they were fellow Indo-Iranians of the BMAC, who initially rejected Aryan religious practices but were later merged with them.

In the Rig Veda, Dasa, Dasyu and similar terms (e.g. Pani) occur sometimes in conjunction with the terms krsna ("black") or asikni ("black"). This was often the basis for a "racial" interpretation of the Vedic texts.

There are three instances in the Rig Veda where the phrase krsna (or ashikni) tvac occurs, literally translating to "black (or swarthy) skin":

1.130.8de mánave śâsad avratân tvácaṃ kṛṣṇâm arandhayat

— "Plaguing the lawless he [Indra] gave up to Manu's seed the dusky skin" (trans. Griffith)

9.41.1 prá yé gâvo ná bhûrṇayas / tveṣâ ayâso ákramuḥ / ghnántaḥ kṛṣṇâm ápa tvácam[16]

— "(Praising the Soma-juices) which descend like streams of water, swift, brilliant, rapid driving off the black covered (Rakshasa who are darkness)"[17]

9.73.5cd índradviṣṭām ápa dhamanti māyáyā tvácam ásiknīm bhûmano divás pári[18]

— "Blowing away with supernatural might from earth and from the heavens the swarthy skin which Indra hates." (trans. Griffith)

Tvac "skin" does, however, also take a secondary, more general meaning of "surface, cover" in the Rigveda, in particular referring to the Earth's surface.

For this reason, there can be debate on whether instances of krsna tvac should be taken to refer literally to a "black skinned people".
A Dasyu is a member of an aboriginal people in India encountered and embattled by the invading Aryans (c. 1500 bc).

They were described by the Aryans as a dark-skinned, harsh-spoken people who worshiped the phallus.

This allusion has persuaded many scholars that worship of the linga, the Hindu religious symbol, originated with them; it may, however, have referred to their sexual practices.

They lived in fortified places from which they sent out armies.

They may be considered the original Sudras, or labourers, who served the three higher classes of Brahman, Kshatriya (warrior), and Vaishya (mercantile), from whose ritual communion they were excluded.

The main difference between the Aryas and the Dasas in the Rig Veda is a difference of religion.

Already A. A. Macdonell and A. B. Keith (1912) remarked that: "The great difference between the Dasyus and the Aryans was their religion... It is significant that constant reference is made to difference in religion between Aryans and Dasa and Dasyu."

The Dasas and Dasyus are also described as brahma-dvisah in the Rig Veda RV 5.42.9; 8.45.23; 10.36.9; 10.160.4; 10.182.3, which Ralph T.H. Griffith translates as "those who hate devotion" or "prayer haters".

Thus Dasa has also been interpreted as meaning the people that don't follow the same religion as the Aryans. Rig Veda 10.22.8 describes the Dasa-Dasyus as a-karman (non-performers of Aryan sacrifices), anya-vrata (observers of other rites) and in Rig Veda 10.105.8 they are described as anrc (non-singer of laudatory hymns). In RV 8.70.11 they are described as a-deva-yu (not regarding Deva ).

While the terms Dasa and Dasyu have a negative meaning in Sanskrit, their Iranian counterparts Daha and Dahyu have preserved their positive (or neutral) meaning. This is similar to the Sanskrit terms Deva (a "positive" term) and Asura (a "negative" term). The Iranian counterparts of these terms (Daeva and Ahura) have opposite meanings.

Dasyus is in Iranian "dahyu" and means tribe, province and district. "Dah-" means "male, man" in Iranian. The "dahyu-pati" (also dahyunam) was the head of the tribe. The Greek "des-potes and the English "despot" correspond to this term (Windfuhr 1999). A "dahyu-sasti" (command of dahyus) is a confederation of two or more dahyus.

Other hostile tribes, besides the Dasas and Dasyus, that are mentioned in the Vedic texts are the Panis (Afghan Pannis?), Pakthas (Pakthun or Pashtuns?), Parshus (Persian tribes?), Prthus (Parthians?) and Bhalanas (Baluchis?). The Irish term Déisi may be cognate; it originally described "vassals" or "subjects" and was later the proper name of certain population groups.

Sri Aurobindo commented that in the RV III.34 hymn, where the word Arya varna occurs, Indra is described as the increaser of the thoughts of his followers:

"the shining hue of these thoughts, sukram varnam asam, is evidently the same as that sukra or sveta Aryan hue which is mentioned in verse 9.

Indra carries forward or increases the "colour" of these thoughts beyond the opposition of the Panis, pra varnam atiracchukram; in doing so he slays the Dasyus and protects or fosters and increases the Aryan "colour", hatvi dasyun pra aryam varnam avat."

The term krsnavonih in RV 2.20.7 has been interpreted by Asko Parpola as meaning "which in their wombs hid the black people".

Sethna (1992) writes, referring to a comment by Richard Hartz, that "there is no need to follow Parpola in assuming a further unexpressed word meaning "people" in the middle of the compound krsnayonih", and the better known translation by Griffith, i.e. "who dwelt in darkness" can be considered as essentially correct.

Another scholar, Hans Hock (1999), finds Karl Friedrich Geldner's translation of krsnayonih (RV 2.20.7) as "Blacks in their wombs" and of krsnagarbha (RV 1.101.1) as "pregnant with the Blacks" "quite recherché" and thinks that it could refer to the "dark world" of the Dasas.

The coming of the Aryans into India raised new problems - racial and political. The conquered race, the Dravidians had a long background of civilization behind them, but there is a little doubt that the Aryans considered themselves vastly superior to them and a wide gulf seperated the two.

“ After all there is throughout this world so far as man is concerned but a single race - the human race, kept alive by one common blood, the human blood. All other talk is at best provisional, a makeshift and only relatively true. (...) Even as it is, not even the aborigines of the Andamans are without some sprinkling of the so-called Aryan blood in their veins and vice-versa. Truly speaking all that one can claim is that one has the blood of all mankind in one’s veins. The fundamental unity of man from pole to pole is true, all else only relatively so”.

Genetic Proof!

Scientific proof ?

." Geneticist and anthropologist Spencer Wells states that "The Aryans came from outside India. We actually have genetic evidence for that. Very clear genetic evidence from a marker that arose on the southern steppes of Russia and the Ukraine around 5,000 to 10,000 years ago. And it subsequently spread to the east and south through Central Asia reaching India." M17 "shows that there was a massive genetic influx into India from the steppes within the past 10,000 years.Taken with the archaeological data, we can say that the old hypothesis of an invasion of people – not merely their language – from the steppe appears to be true."

------ Wells (2002:167)

In the study by M.J Bamshad and his team they wrote, "Our results demonstrate that for biparentally inherited autosomal markers, genetic distances between upper, middle, and lower castes are significantly correlated with rank; upper castes are more similar to Europeans than to Asians; and upper castes are significantly more similar to Europeans than are lower castes."

Kazanas argues that this indicates that the Harappan civilization must have been dominated by Indo-Aryan speakers, supposing that the arrival of Indo-Aryan migrants in Late Harappan times to the remnants of a Indus Valley Civilization formerly stretching over vast area could not have resulted in the suppression of the entire native hydronymy.

Frustrated Swami Vivekananda asks:

" And what your European pandits say about the Aryan's sweeping from some foreign land, snatching away the lands of the aboriginals and settling India by exterminating them, is all pure nonsense, foolish talk. Strange, that our Indian scholars too say amen to them, and all these monstrous lies are taught to our boys. This is very bad indeed.

In what Veda, in what Sukta, so you find that the Aryans came to India from a foreign country? Where do you get the idea that they slaughtered the wild aborigines? What do you gain by talking such nonsense?"

In Rig Veda III:34:9 Indra killed the Dasyus (dark skinned natives) and "gave protection to the Aryan color."

They arrogantly proclaim, "Let those who have no weapons suffer sorrow” (Rig Veda IV:5:14.)]

Indra is praised for killing thousands of the abject tribes of Dasas with his arrow and taking great vengeance with "murdering weapons." (Rig Veda IV:28:3−4)

One hymn mentions sending thirty thousand Dasas "to slumber" and another hymn sixty thousand slain. A hymn dedicated to the weapons of war (Rig Veda VI:75) refers to a warrior "armed with mail," using a bow to win cattle and subdue all regions, "upstanding in the car the skillful charioteer guides his strong horses on whithersoe'er he will." The arrows had iron mouths and shafts "with venom smeared" that "not one be left alive."

Hymn VII:83 begins, "Looking to you and your alliance, O ye men, armed with broad axes they went forward, fain for spoil. Ye smote and slew his Dasa and his Aryan enemies."

The basic belief of the prayers and sacrifices is that they will help them to gain their desires and overcome their enemies, as in Rig Veda VIII:31:15: "The man who, sacrificing, strives to win the heart of deities will conquer those who worship not."

"He, much invoked, hath slain Dasyus and Simyus, after his wont, and laid them low with arrows. The mighty thunderer with his fair−complexioned friends won the land, the sunlight, and the waters." −−Rig Veda I:100:18.

The ancient singer praises the god who "destroyed the Dasyans and protected the Aryan colour." [ Rg.V. III.34.9 ]

Numerous are the references to "the black skin" `Krishnam Vacham' [ Rg.V. IX.41.1, Sama Veda I.491, II.242 ] which is mentioned with abhorrence.
Again " stromy gods who rush on like furious bulls and scatter the black skin." [ Rg.V. IX.73.5 ]

The singers mention "the black skin, the hated of Indra", being swept ourtof heaven [ RgV. IX.73.5 ] "Indra protected in battle the Aryan worshipper, he subdued the lawless for Manu, he conqured the black skin."

[ Rg.V. I.130.8 ] The sacrificer poured out thanks to his god for "scattering the slave bands of black descent", and for stamping out " the vile Dasyan colour." [ Rg.V. II.20.7, II.12.4 ] [ ANn. 115 ]

"Dasam varnam adharam" [ Rg.V. II.12.4 ]

Indra is called Puroha or Purandhara, `sacker of cities' Indra overthrew 100 Puras made of stone ( asmanmayi ) for his worshipper Divodasa [ RgV 4.30.20 ], evidently belonging to Sambara who is a Dasa ( non-Aryan/demon ) of the mountain [ RgV 6.26.5 ]

The famous Harappa hymn of the Rig Veda describes with praise Indra's destruction of Harappa

" In aid of Abhyavartin Cayamana, Indra destroyed the seed of Virasakha.

"At Hariyupiyah he smote the vanguard of the Vrcivans, and the rear fled frighted."

-- [ Rg.V. XXVII.5 ]

Some more Proof’s from Rig Veda Proving it to be composed OUTSIDE India

1.The Indus Valley Civilization was quite advanced and urbanized for its era. Based on the IAM, he migrating Aryans, who wrote the Rig Veda, would have had some contact with the Harappans before settling in their lands. The Aryans would also have begun to use some of the resources the Harappans possessed; however, the Rig Veda possesses some gaps which indicate it was composed prior to the first use of these resources in India.

2. The Rig-Veda knows no silver. It knows ayas (metal or copper/bronze) and candra or hiran-ya (gold) but not silver. Silver is denoted by rajatám híran-yam literally ‘white gold’ and appears in post-Rigvedic texts. There is a generally accepted demarcation line for the use of silver at around 4000 BC and this metal is archaeologically attested in the Harappan Civilization.

3. The Harappan culture is also unknown to the RV. The characteristic features of the Harappan culture are urban life, large buildings, permanently erected fire altars and bricks. There is no word for brick in the Rig Veda and iswttakaa (brick) appears only in post-Rigvedic texts.

(Kazanas 2000:13) & G C Pande & D Krishna, special issue of Journal of Indian Council of Philosophical Research (June, 2001)

The Rigvedic altar is a shallow bed dug in the ground and covered with grass (e.g. RV 5.11.2, 7.43.2-3; Parpola 1988: 225). Fixed brick-altars are very common in post-Rigvedic texts.

Rig-Veda is pre-Harappan by N Kazanas

4. The RV mentions no rice or cotton. A compound term is used which later referred to rice cakes used for sacrificial purposes, but the word vrīhí, meaning 'rice', does not occur. Rice was found in at least three Harappan sites: Rangpur (2000 BCE - 1500 BCE), Lothal (c 2000 BCE) and Mohenjodaro (c 2500 BCE) as Piggott, Grist and others testify. Yet, despite the importance of the rice in ritual in later times, the Rig Veda knows nothing of it. The cultivation of cotton is well attested in the Harappan civilization and is found at many sites thereafter.

5. Nakshatra were developed in 2400 BCE, they are important in a religious context yet the Rig Veda does not mention this, which suggests the Rig Veda is before 2400 BCE. The youngest book only mentions constellations,a concept known to all cultures, without specifying them as lunar mansions.

6. On the other hand, it has been claimed that the Rigveda has no term for "sword", while Bronze swords were used aplenty in the Bactrian culture and in Pirak. Ralph Griffith uses “sword” twelve times in his translation, including in the old books 5 and 7, but in most cases a literal translation would be more generic "sharp implement" (e.g. vāśī), the transition from "dagger" to "sword" in the Bronze Age being a gradual process.

7. The fore-mentioned features are found in post Rigvedic texts – the Samhitas, the Brahmanas and fully in the Sutra literature. For instance, brick altars are mentioned in Satapatha Brahmanaṇa 7.1.1.37, or 10.2.3.1 etc. Rice ( vrihi ) is found in AV 6.140.2; 7.1.20; etc. Cotton karpasa appears first in Gautama’s (1.18) and in Bandhāyana's (14.13.10) Dharmasūtra. The fact of the convergence of the post-Rigvedic texts and the Harappan culture was noted long ago by archaeologists. Bridget and F. Raymond Allchin stated unequivocally that these features are of the kind “described in detail in the later Vedic literature” (1982: 203).

Rig-Veda is pre-Harappan by N Kazanas

Based on these set of statements, OIT proponents argue that the whole of the RV, except for some few passages which may be of later date, must have been composed prior to Indus Valley Civilization.

Update on the Aryan Invasion Debate by Koenraad Elst.

What will happen if Aryan Invasion Theory is accepted?

1. The Aryan invasion theory denies the Indian origin of
India’s predominant culture, but gives the credit for
Indian culture to invaders from elsewhere.

2. It even teaches that some of the most revered books of
Hindu scripture are not actually Indian, and it
devalues India’s culture by portraying it as less
ancient than it actually is.

3. The theory included unacceptably racist ideas:

4. It suggested that Indian culture was not a culture in
its own right, but a synthesis of elements from other
cultures.

5. It implied that Hinduism was not an authentically
Indian religion but the result of cultural imperialism.

6. It suggested that Indian culture was static, and only
changed under outside influences.

7. It suggested that the dark-skinned Dravidian people of
the South of India had got their faith from
light-skinned Aryan invaders.

8. It implied that indigenous people were incapable of
creatively developing their faith.

9. It suggested that indigenous peoples could only
acquire new religious and cultural ideas from other
races, by invasion or other processes.

10. It accepted that race was a biologically based concept
(rather than, at least in part, a social construct)
that provided a sensible way of ranking people in a
hierarchy, which provided a partial basis for the
caste system.

11. It provided a basis for racism in the Imperial context
by suggesting that the peoples of Northern India were
descended from invaders from Europe and so racially
closer to the British Raj.

12. It gave a historical precedent to justify the role and
status of the British Raj, who could argue that they
were transforming India for the better in the same way
that the Aryans had done thousands of years earlier.

13. It downgraded the intellectual status of India and its
people by giving a falsely late date to elements of
Indian science and culture.

Ancient Persian influence on Hinduism.

The Aryan invadors who lived in Persia and later, in India, had a lot in common by way of phonetics, language, spirituality and reverence for nature…

Hinduism pertains to Hindus but the word Hindu itself is actually a Persian word coined by Cyrus the great in the 6th century B.C. to describe people who lived beyond the river Indus which was the eastern boundary of the ancient Persian empire. The Persians had a phonetic problem with the letter ‘S’ hence, Sindhu became Hindu just as Rigveda’s Soma came from Zend Avesta’s Hoama. Such fascinating phonetic affinities!

Even the word Shudra in Hinduism’s caste-system came from the Persian word Hatoksha. Originally, there were only three castes but the camp followers collected by Persians on their travels were called Hatokshas. The Romans, who separated from the original Aryanstock at a much earlier date than the Brahmins called fire Athar. In old Sanskrit, lightning is called Atharvan. In ancient Persia Arthvan meant a priest and this word evolved to become Brahmin.

Persian herders of cattle were called Vastrayosh and after they settled down from their nomadic existence to become cultivators and later, traders, the word evolved into Hinduism’s Vaishya caste. In the Vedas, waters are called Apo-Devi and in the Avesta, Apo-Vanghuish. Also, the prominent deities of the Rig Veda like Surya, Varun and Aryaman have come from the Avesta.

In fact, originally, the Rig Veda was written in the Kharoshti script which like Persian is written backwards i.e. from right to left. The Brahmi script came much later and our Devnagri script even later than Brahmi. In Lemuria, Atlantis and Babylon, there was the Akhadian script, found on Babylonian tablets during excavations, from which the Pali script evolved. This is why, since ancient Persia was the melting-pot of civilisations, Sanskrit sounds like old Persian e.g. Veeg the seed became the Sanskritised Beej.

The Aryan invadors who lived in Persia and later, in India, had a lot in common by way of phonetics, language, spirituality and reverence for nature. The five elements of nature called Panchamahabhoot were worshipped, with fire and it’s apex in ancient India. This idea came from Persia and the oldest religion in the world viz. Zorastrianism which as and still is, the most eco-friendly religion in the world. It is a cardinal sin for a Parsi to defile any of nature’s elements which is why, a corpse, a filthy shell after it’s pranic energy has left it, is never to be burnt on fire. That would be a grave sin to the element of agni.

Rather, a Parsi feeds the fire within a fire-temple with sweet-smelling sandalwood and frankincense.

Persian warriors were called ratheshwars, and this word evolved into kshatriyas. Even wars were fought in a noble fashion through there’s nothing noble about a war to my way of thinking. In the ancient world, man lived with nature. He depended on nature for his food, shelter and livelihood. To him, the forces of nature and her five elements appeared to be pulsating with life. The sun, moon, stars, clouds, earth, springs, rivers, oceans, trees, grass, flowers were, he believed, presided over by invisible intelligences which is a cosmic fact. Geofrey Hodsun has proved this through his clairvoyant theosophical books.

In return for nature’s bounties and blessings, man gave homage which took the form of the various hymns and prayers in the Avesta as well as the Rig Veda. Hence, there are so many similarities and spiritual parallels between Ancient Persian theology and that of the pre-vedic and vedic times. The Persian Goddess of water was Ahurani, similar to the vedic Asurani. Feeding the sacred fire was common to the Persians as well as the pre-vedic society. So many similarities, so much in common, because, in the final analysis, it’s the same supreme energy we all worship!

Hinduism vs Zoroastrianism

The history of Indian thought commences only when the Aryans of Central Asia separated themselves into two groups, the one making through Afghanistan to India and the other spreading over the territory called Iran.

Gilbert Murray

The Avesta is nearer the Veda than the Veda to its own epic Sanskrit.

Dr. Mills

Varuna is the god of sky...He is identical with the Greek Ouranos and the Ahuramazda of the Avesta.

S.Radhakrishnan

Like the Rigvedic Aryans, the ancient Iranians worshipped gods like Mitra, Vayu, Verutraghna. They also wore the sacred thread and worshipped fire. They had a social organization that was in some ways similar to the Vedic occupation based social system.

Zoroastrian religion was practiced mostly in Iran, or the ancient Persia. Its founder Zarathushtra was born in ancient Iran. The ancient Iranians were Aryans and the world Iran is actually a corrupt form of the word Aryan. The Iranian Aryans were cousins of the Indian Aryans and the language spoken by them was similar to Sanskrit in many ways. They came from the same stock and probably might have even lived together for sometime before parting ways.

However apart from these similarities, there was little else common between Zoroastrianism founded by Zarathushtra and the Vedic Religion that took shape in India. Some differences also seemed to have cropped between Zoroastrians and the Vedic people during the later period as is evident from the use of certain epithets which denote some degree of animosity. The Iranian Ahura (God) became the Indian asura (demon) and the Indian devas (gods) became the Iranian equivalent of evil spirits.

This is the completion, further updates will be added very soon.

CONCLUSION!

Further, this desire by Hindutva supporters to “prove” by any means that Aryans are “indigenous” people directly relate to their contemporary political agenda back in India of distinguishing the “indigenous Aryan Hindus” from “foreign Muslim and Christian invaders” and thereby characterizing India’s Muslim and Christian minorities as “traitors” that need to be marginalized and persecuted.

Inspite of Innumerable Evidences & Proofs of Aryan Invasion, yet some Hindus are Trying to Disprove it in Vain.
